Veterinarian in Denver: Dr. Delaney

Jennifer Delaney, DVM

Jennifer is a native Coloradoan. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for her undergraduate degree, then went to Colorado State University, where she received her master’s and veterinary medical degrees. Dr. Delaney joined Vida Veterinary Care in 2006 and became a partner at the practice in 2009. She enjoys working with the squashed faced breeds (English Bulldog, Pug, etc) which she has lots of experience with through her own bulldog named Gracie. She has a wonderful husband and two young children that keep her very busy. In her free time, she enjoys many outdoor activities including biking, hiking, skiing, running, and hanging out with friends and family.

Katy LeVon, DVM

Dr. Katy LeVon has moved around the country throughout her life. Before joining Vida she was practicing in Billlings, MT where she enjoyed working with small animals as a general practitioner and emergency doctor but she also worked at the zoo.  Dr. LeVon received her undergraduate degree from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio and then received her DVM from Iowa State University. When she is not working, Dr. LeVon enjoys exploring Colorado, running, going to concerts and spending time with family.

Claire Rachelson, DVM, cVMA

Claire is originally from Atlanta, Georgia but her passion for animals has taken her around the globe. She attended the University of Colorado, Boulder where she obtained her Bachelors of Arts and Sciences with a major in History and a minor in Biology. She then went on to earn her veterinary degree from the University of Sydney. After moving back from Australia, Claire began working at a large 24 hour practice in Fairfax Virginia, but after nearly 4 years of living in Washington, DC, she is thrilled to be back in Colorado. Claire has received her certification in veterinary medical acupuncture, and loves to offer integrative treatment options to her patients.

Her professional interests include feline medicine, pain management, dermatology and senior care. When she is not cuddling with all the animals at work, she loves spending time with her two Australian cats Olive and Maple, and her rescue Newfoundland named Reuben. Claire and her husband have one child, Wilhelmina, whose first word much to her mother’s delight was “KITTY”. Outside of work, she enjoys snowboarding, cooking, paddle boarding and supporting her Atlanta sports teams. Claire feels privileged every day that she is able to care for animals and that she has found a career that brings her so much joy!

Kelsey Schroeder, DVM

Kelsey grew up in Manhattan, Kansas. She attended Kansas State University where she received her Bachelors of Science in Biology, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed an internship in Tucson. Her professional interests include ophthalmology, exotics/wildlife and rehabilitation. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, running, hiking, playing softball and spending time with friends, family and her dogs Sage and Wrigley.

Leslie Hicks, DVM

Leslie was born in California but grew up moving all over the US and Canada. She attended Colorado State University and received her BS of Biomedical Sciences in 2005 and her DVM in 2009. After graduating from veterinary school Leslie completed a one year internship. Before joining the team at Vida Veterinary Care, Dr. Hicks spent her time practicing emergency and critical care medicine in Aurora, Colorado. Outside of work Leslie enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her husband Adam, dog Brinkley and riding her horse Claus.

Nancy Willerton, DVM

Nancy received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University of Illinois in 1991. After practicing out of state for a time, she joined Vida Veterinary Care (then University Hills Animal Hospital) in 1995. She is a partner/owner in Vida Veterinary Care. Nancy is proficient in all aspects of the general practice of veterinary medicine, and has a special interest in surgery. Nancy served on the Colorado State Board of Veterinary Medicine for 8 years and is very active in the not for profit community.

Nancy and her husband have a busy household with 4 children, 3 dogs and 1 cat.  Boo and Mike are Brussels mixes adopted from the Dumb Friends League. Auggie, their Boxer mix also came from the DDFL. Mingus is a generic cat that came into our hospital as a kitten.

Sarah Engmark, DVM

Sarah was born in California, but grew up in Ohio. She attended Eastern Michigan University where she obtained her Bachelors of Science with a major in Biology and minor in Music. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University. Before joining Vida, Sarah practiced at a 24-hour general practice and emergency hospital, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she worked with small animals. Her professional interests include soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, dentistry, and behavior medicine. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, paddle boarding, singing; spending time with her friends and family, fiancé Ben, and her dog Pepper.

Preston Stubbs, DVM, DACVS

Dr. W. Preston Stubbs is a native of western New York and grew up in northern Virginia. He is a 1990 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and received his internship training at Cornell University. He completed a residency in small animal surgery at the University of Florida in 1994. Dr. Stubbs is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He has held positions in academic and large private referral practice settings. Dr. Stubbs started Mile High Veterinary Surgical Specialists, a mobile surgical service, in late 2012. He has published numerous articles in refereed journals and has authored several book chapters. Dr. Stubbs has presented many scientific lectures and continuing education presentations both nationally and abroad. He was also featured in the Animal Planet network’s Emergency Vets and ER Vets: Interns television programs. An avid musician/luthier, fly fisherman, and wine enthusiast, he and his wife Laura have 5 children and enjoy life in Denver, Colorado.

Carrie Ginieczki, DVM

Dr. Carrie Ginieczki received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University.  She then pursued a rotating small animal internship at Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.  Following her internship, Carrie completed a combined cardiology residency and Masters program at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University.  Immediately following her residency, she achieved board certification in the discipline of veterinary cardiology through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

During her time at Purdue, Dr. Ginieczki was thoroughly trained in echocardiography, the clinical discipline of veterinary cardiology and catheter-based techniques that offer minimally invasive options at correcting congenital heart disease.  She also performed research and published articles related to many aspects of veterinary cardiology.  Topics she has covered include therapy for Atrial Fibrillation, anticoagulant therapy and pacemaker patients.

Dr. Ginieczki is the founder and sole owner of Colorado Veterinary Cardiology.  She has a passion for assisting clients and their family veterinarians in diagnosing and treating dogs and cats with heart disease.  She has a particular interest in treating subclinical heart disease (heart disease in patients without clinical signs), congestive heart failure and feline heart disease.  Dr. Ginieczki lives in Evergreen, Colorado with her husband, son, cat and the many wild animals that visit their home daily.  She is an active mountain biker, rock climber, cross-country skier and yogi.
