Wellness Exams for Pets in Denver and Centennial, CO
Pets are like people in many ways. They get happy, excited, and scared. They love to play, eat, and sleep. But they can also be prone to some health problems, so they need health checkups on a regular basis, just like you do. Also, keep in mind dogs age about seven times faster than humans do, while cats age about nine times faster. These are just a couple of the reasons that wellness exams for pets in Denver and Centennial, CO are so important.
Here at Vida Veterinary Care, we recommend a comprehensive wellness exam at least once a year for your canine or feline companion. We want your four-legged friend to be around to play with you, cuddle with you, and make you laugh, just as much as you do!
About Your Pet’s Wellness Exam
Every pet wellness exam at our animal hospital consists of a comprehensive check of your pet’s body, including weight, temperature, and teeth. We’ll be sure to let you know of any abnormalities we find and if we recommend additional diagnostics in the form of laboratory work, X-rays, etc. These visits may also include a discussion about:
- Parasite control*
Please feel free to ask any questions you have about your pet’s home life. Have you noticed changes in your cat’s eating habits? Does your dog seem lethargic or uninterested in certain activities that he used to enjoy? Whatever your concerns are, we want to know about them because we want to help. We emphasize client education as a means of preventive care, so we welcome any questions you have.
Whether your pet is an outdoor or indoor pet, they can still be exposed to parasites like fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. These tiny critters could cause a number of health problems for your canine or feline companion, including:
- Lyme disease (from ticks)
- Allergy dermatitis (from fleas)
- Heartworm disease (from mosquitoes)
If not treated, these diseases can leave your pet in a great deal of discomfort or worse. That’s why it’s best to keep your pet on a year-round preventive medication. We can discuss our recommendations during your pet’s wellness visit.
